It’s a popular market with a waiting list thats rumoured to hold names of deceased traders! Our blooms however caught the organisers eye and offered the existing market some variety. So we spent all week in the studio rustling up new bouquet designs for market, preparing our mock stall and working through a long, long list of supporting items you need to go to market. Wow …they make it look so simple. A product, a table, a marquee – how hard could it be right? Wrong.
Hence the thank you post. Our friends and family pulled out all the stops to get us to market. With the van (loaned from a friend), tables (loaned!), blooms and props loaded into the van we headed off at sunrise only to have the heavens open. With no marquee on hand we had convinced ourselves it would be a week of effort wasted. Fortunately enough, despite a little drizzle during the setup we had a day of sunshine and blue skies.
Our customers were full of praise and compliments and we sold out very quickly on some of our more popular bouquets. We had fresh supplies rushed in to keep the stall looking bloom perfect all day! We spent the day fielding questions and almost exploded with pride when countless people sniffed the flowers! Hopes we had of sipping coffee, chatting to passers by and browsing stalls soon evaporated as we didn’t stop serving customers from the moment the market opened to well beyond its normal closing time. Our neighbouring stall holders were so helpful and encouraging too – offering us tips and advice during setup and encouraging us to come back next month. We gained a ton of new Secret Blooms fans and even generated a few corporate hire enquiries!
We couldn’t have done it without you – thank you. Friends, family and customers. You made all the hard work well worth it and you’ve given us renewed energy to keep doing what we’re doing!
